I am Carsten Hansen, founder of SourcingHaus. For more than 20 years I have worked at the forefront of international procurement and global supply chain management—most of it within the United Nations. I have seen the power of procurement to deliver real impact for people and planet.
That is why I founded the SourcingHaus Institute: to close that gap.

From 2016–2023 I served as Chief of Global Procurement Services at UNDP, leading operations that supported governments and UN clients in 170+ countries. I co-chaired the UN Inter-Agency Working Group on Sustainable Procurement and contributed to the UN/OSCE Task Force on Human Trafficking and Forced Labour in Supply Chains.
While Governments and organizations may set ambitious goals, I have seen the frustration practitioners face when asked to deliver on sustainability objectives without practical tools, clear guidance, or resources. Too often, procurement teams are only told the goals to achieve—without being shown how.
That is why I founded the SourcingHaus Institute: to close that gap.
